News: New Yooka-Laylee trailer reveals release window
Playtonic Games has posted a brand-new trailer featuring unseen footage, and a release window reveal for their upcoming platformer Yooka-Laylee.
Despite an initial goal of October 2016, the game is now expected to launch Q1 2017. The developers say they are “committed to releasing games only when they’re polished, complete, and at the quality you expect.”
Playtonic Games is comprised of former Rare developers, so it should come as no surprise the game has drawn comparisons to the Banjo-Kazooie series. The studio has also played into the spiritual successor theory, with a joke about Yooka-Laylee “probably having car sections” by the time of its launch in a post-gameplay sequence of the trailer.
Yooka-Laylee will be released on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Banjo-Kazooie is in my top three favourite games ever, so it’s an understatement to say that I’m excited for Yooka-Laylee. While the visuals still look like they need work, I have NO DOUBT Playtonic Games will pull off one heck of a game.
